I saw that too…

I predict Nigeria 2:Argentina 1
August 19th, 2008 at 3:04 pm
Would I that it’s Argentines tradition to score goals with their hands. It’s obvious their 1st goal against Brazil is a Hand ball. Pls the officials for the Finals b/w Arg. & 9ja should be watchful.

you’re just sad Brazil lost. If you look closely the ball actually made contact with the abdomen, not the hand. Get a better screen.
August 19th, 2008 at 3:16 pm
I looked again, PURE HANDBALL!!!
August 19th, 2008 at 3:21 pm
so, what if the first was a handball, there are still 2 more goals that weren’t, so don’t feel robbed. 3-0 BACK IN YO FACE
August 19th, 2008 at 3:24 pm
ARGENTINA THE BEST , SHUT UP THE MOUTH AMERICANS SHIT :green:
August 19th, 2008 at 3:33 pm
maybe other nations should learn something form Argentina - anything goes in football - if you can get away with it, they you do. If you don’t then chances are you’ll get sent off. It’s called calculated risk. And for the record, that was no hand ball, and even if it was, we still got another 2 in.
August 19th, 2008 at 3:35 pm
Argentina killed them…
Webmaster, the second goal is not correct, it is the first goal clip..
please fix!
August 19th, 2008 at 3:37 pm
you can bet your life………..
Nigeria is clinching the gold by God’s grace.
August 19th, 2008 at 3:39 pm
This is not hand ball. There was crowded hand, so true goal.
August 19th, 2008 at 3:41 pm
People you have 2 know about footbal before you talk. When argentina scored the first goal brazil had 2 open there defence 2 go 2 look for a goal. So that’s the reason that it is so important that the goal was score with the hand. or not. and it was
August 19th, 2008 at 3:42 pm
If they can keep their confidence up Nigeria looks unstoppable.
Oshey Oshe o Oshe o Oshe Baba!
August 19th, 2008 at 3:45 pm
4get argentina . nigeria will reveal how weak they are.Only a brasil could be molested by the argentines

August 19th, 2008 at 4:15 pm
Hand??? What are you looking at? First of all, you can’t see shi t in this small screen. Second, watch on TV and you will clearly see that it’s not. How sad that people that don’t understand anything at all post any kind of comment. Watch the game before making stupid comments. Honestly Argentina showed why it’s one of the best teams in the world. Brazil is too, that’s why this one was THE game. Also you have to consider that those 2 teams are very close, one time one wins one the other. There’s no logic. But today Argentina was definitively better than Brazil. I understand that people like Brazil, but tough luck, today they didn’t shine.
And sorry to tell you but once again, anyone that knows two bits of soccer knows what’s gonna happen on the finals. There might be a surprise, but logic says Argentina will win.
August 19th, 2008 at 4:21 pm
first of all tnx to iron man for the web and second no body can stop the african (nigeria)to get gold medal like what happened in ATL
August 19th, 2008 at 4:43 pm
Naija will beat Argentina just the same way we beat them back in 1996! In 1996, we beat Argentina 3-2!! African Champion, Nigeria, will get it done again! We’ll show you how to play the game! 9ja for life!
August 19th, 2008 at 4:44 pm
Ok, Nigeria has its fans obviously; but honestly, can we speak of a true football tradition when mentioning Nigeria? They may be the best African nation playing the sport; but Argentina is a superpower in the sport. Look at their record in all the major tournaments. Vamos Argentina for the GOLD!

Agreed, at least one person who knows about soccer, read and learn why the first goal is so important, then the goal from Brazil was incorrectly nulled, it was a valid and not offside. Everything would have change if the rules were correctly applied. Bad luck

Haha… that’s really funny. Truth be told, if you had the money to get TiVO or some type of recorder you could easily rewind and pause to CLEARLY see that the 1st goal was off Aguero’s belly and that Brazil was CLEARLY offside in the so-called annulled goal. Even if those calls would have been otherwise incorrectly called, Argentina would have still outplayed and beat Brazil. There’s no question about it, Brazil was simply not good today. Maybe next time. Hahahaha
August 19th, 2008 at 6:56 pm
Gold for Argentina!!!! For Sure!!
August 19th, 2008 at 7:42 pm
I saw the first 30 minutes of the game on cbcsports.ca live video. Argentina were much better and Brazil looked lost.
I am a Brazil fan way back when Pele, Jarzinho, Tostao etc ( 1966, 1970) and still today Brazil are my favourites. To me Pele was the Greatest, although Diego is very close behind. Pele 1, Diego 2 ( and I do really like the little guy, pure genius, the best in from 1979-1987/88, when we had Gullit, lazy Romario, Van Basten etc).
Even Zico called Maradona the best player during his time “pure genius”…so 1979 onward and Zico was an amazing player.
However, Argentina I knew were going to win and definetly were deserved winners. There was NO HANDBALL on the 1st goal and yes they scored 2 more. But Pato’s goal was similar to the 2nd Argentinian goal whereby 1 defending player played the attacking player onside, so Pato’s goal should have counted.
Altogher, Argentina is the real winner. Brazil had the wrong line up and Dunga is to blame, again just like Parreira last world cup. When you can’t beat other teams with Brazilian flair and skill, I knew Brazil was not going to do much.
Again Ronaldinho did not rise up to the occasion like Pele, Zico or Maradona did.
My lineup would have been 3 attachkers, Pato, Jo, Sobis, midfield Ramires, Ronaldinho, ? Marcelo, Silva, ? and Rafinha. Ronaldinho in the middle of the pitch. But Ronaldinho again did not lift his game and take on people…why??
Brazil Diego is no good, never liked him..he was outclassed by Argentinas midfield, although Riquelme to me is not that great.
Messi, Aguerro and Di Maria ( I like this chap) were the gems.
The last time Nigeria and Argentina met 3 or 4 years ago U-19 or U-20 or something, Argentina won, but should not have. I saw the full game then and Nigeria dominated the game,Argentina got 2 penalties….they were not penalties at all..and made me wonder whether fifa was playing politics…Nigeria should have won then.
So now Olympics 2008, If there is no referre favouritism and if Nigeria can keep discipline, then Nigeria will win. To much flair and skill.
Final: Nigeria 3 Argentina 0.
But I think these are the 2 best teams in the final.
My all time top 10 with subs. Forgetting a few defenders and maybe forwards
Forwards: Pele, Maradona Sub: Tostao, Cubillas, Ronaldo(Brazil), Gullit
Midfield: Best,Zico, Cruyff, Garrincha Sub: Eusebio,Ardiles,Socrates, Sivori, Puskas, Jarzinho, DiStefano,Platini, Blokhin,
Defenders Nilton Santos, Pasarella, Moore, Carlos Alberto Sub: Junior, Leandro, Beckenbauer, Baresi,
Goalkeepers: Gordon Banks Sub: Lev Yashin

good thing Argentina smashed those lame Brazilians they cant play soccer for shit, they are the dirtiest plays ever and they blow
August 19th, 2008 at 9:47 pm
for me Brasil es Numero Uno!, but thru-out the tournament, dey didnt have a complete squad to me, obviously lacked defensive strength which applies to the A-team also……i wanted this to be the final due to the fact i knew if they met b4 it wuddof been so long to my team, so said so done……….well no hard feelings as long as the gold goes to South America
August 19th, 2008 at 10:16 pm
Argentine is the best. I enjoy watching them play…Ronaldinho is history…Messi is the man.
Gold is for Messi.
August 19th, 2008 at 10:19 pm
u guys are jackasses first goal was hands 2 one was offside and the third well a penalty 50%chance of goal so shut ur mouths brazil rocks
August 19th, 2008 at 10:21 pm
:green: hehehe..FANTASTIC GAME GUYS!
Go A-R-G-E-N-T-I-N-A
Against Brazil was great.
Now we wait for the revenge with Nigeria of Atlanta…
August 19th, 2008 at 10:58 pm
In all honesty, Brazil could be a better team if they didn’t resort to such nasty and dirty play when they are obviously outplayed. Good thing the ref took control and started to red-card them to avoid injuries that could have harmed Argentina.
Come on Brazilian fans out there, admit it. Brazil started playing very dirty once they realized they were not at the same level as Argentina. Why? Obviously it was a desperate attempt.
Also, Maradona drew much more international admiration and awe than Pele, whose many admirers are dying (too old, way too long ago people). Either way, the best player in the world now is Messi, there is no question about it.
August 20th, 2008 at 12:43 am
lol, im a brazil fan…i expected this result from this argentina team
August 20th, 2008 at 3:14 am
Everyone new that who scored first would take control of the game. This is basically what happened.
Brazil has a good team, but this team has never played together. Blame on Dunga that did not think that preparing this team was even important.
Brazil did well, in the first half there were some plays from Ronaldinho where Argentinians are still looking for the ball.
Messi is incredible, and at the end the best and favorite team won. Congratulations Argentina.
August 20th, 2008 at 7:11 am
why does everyone keep saying that nigeria will win? are you serious? argentina hasnt lost a game yet and come on, with riquelme and messi playmaking and goals, with di maria, kun, and lavezzis finishing nothing can stop them. it would make more sense if a revolutionary player like messi won a gold medal. not some shitty nigerian
August 20th, 2008 at 10:43 am
the commantary freaking sucks, i wish he just ate his ** and shut up..
hard luck Brazil
August 20th, 2008 at 2:34 pm
straight up argentina was the better team. they out played brazil for the first half and obviously in the second half. the first goal is not a hand ball and if it was y didn’t the defender protest? the second goal was plainly onside. u brazillians and americans need 2 stop complainin and look for great players ( like messi ) though that might be impossible.
argentina gold all the way. messi greatest player in the world right now.
August 20th, 2008 at 4:29 pm
Let us not fool ourselves,Argentina outplayed Brazil in every aspect.Messy was merciless in attacking the Brazilian defense. As for the finals, although I have a grea respect for the Nigerian team ,honestly I don’t see them beating the Argentinain squad. The Argentinain’s have so much depth and talent that will cause havoc on a young Nigerain team.
Argentina 2-o.
Viva Argentina

THANK YOU! I am glad someone pointed that out, Jesus you damn babies “Oh it was a handball…blah blah” they scored two more damn goals you morons so shut up, plus what the Brasilians do? nothing their only chance to score was off a free kick, Argentina’s defence completely shut down Brasil the entire game, they did nothing! they couldn’t penetrate and could not control the ball to build any attack whatsoever, Gago was amazing at defence, and Messi played outstanding…proving once again that he is better than Ronaldhino and the best in the world
